Rogersville is the county seat of Hawkins County, with a population of 4297. It was settled in 1775 by the grandparents of Davy Crockett, and is the second-oldest town in Tennessee. Rogersville was named for its founder, Joseph Rogers. Rogersville City School System has been named among Tennessee’s best schools. Rogersville is conveniently located 74 miles southeast of Knoxville and 26 miles southwest of Kingsport.
