Formerly known as Gray Station, the small community of Gray, TN, has long been a major rail and shipping thoroughfare from the Midwest to across the Appalachians. The rural suburb of Johnson City’s “Tri-Cities” region, Gray has a population of 1,273 people.

Up until the 1990s, land in Gray was mainly used as farmland but as the 2000s rolled in, the area started to welcome in development. Since then, the community’s population and real estate have been inching upwards, with large restaurant franchises, new housing subdivisions, and museums popping up.
